12 Sep Is toxicity the reason you feel unwell?
Ask yourself the following questions:
- Are you often tired or lethargic?
- Do you suffer from bloating, diarrhoea, constipation, nausea, bad breath or farting/gas?
- Do you get regular headaches?
- Are you suffering from muscular aches and pains?
- Does your memory and concentration affect your ability to function well?
- Do you suffer from allergies, environmental sensitivities or intolerances?
- Do you suffer from depression, anxiety and or mood swings?
- Do you have hormonal problems or excess weight?
- Do you have skin problems like rashes or pimples?
- Do you get swollen glands, runny nose, wheezing or frequent colds?
- The more questions you answer yes to the more toxic you are likely to be.
Detoxification is about eliminating toxic substances that cause problems in your body and giving your body a chance to recharge with healthy whole foods and juices.
Ideally, give yourself a minimum of three weeks to cleanse your body and do this at least once a year. Once you have done it for three weeks you will have developed new healthy habits that will stick. If you are healthier, each time you do a detox you will feel better. Ideally you don’t want to keep trashing yourself in order to justify a detox; you’ll enjoy the benefits from a detox now and then due to modern-day toxins which are all around you.
So the aim is to cleanse using several approaches which include:
Removing the load on your digestive system: avoiding alcohol, cigarettes, drugs (unless they are a necessary medication) sugar and processed foods.
Renewing your body by providing it with essential nutrients: eating fresh organic foods, drinking purified water and vegetable juices.
Releasing toxins through the digestive tract, liver, kidneys and lymphatic system: using simple whole foods and herbal teas to support your organs as they remove wastes.
Replacing and improving the good bugs and renewing your digestive lining: eating foods that help get rid of bad bugs and foods that promote good bugs (Ch.9) and removing waste from your digestive system.
Relaxing is most important for repair and recovery.
Most people are not functioning at their full potential and committing yourself to cleansing is an effective way to give your body a fresh start and get you feeling young and alive. It will allow your cells to renew and change your body to a healthier chemistry. If your body is overwhelmed with toxins and not able to clear them effectively then it loses its ability to maintain a high level of health.
